If your truck is used for racing, sled pulling, or hot shot towing, it's only a matter of time before your stock flex plate fails. Modifications and motorsports add more strain to the flex plate which can result in heat spots from the torque converter. Constant heat cycles can cause these heat spots to crack and even cause the flexplate to break apart.

Some trucks may be equipped with one or two shims or spacers on either side of the OEM flex plate.
These shims or spacers will not be needed for installation of the flex plate as it is thicker than the OEM flex plate.
Removal of any shims or spacers is necessary to ensure good thread engagement of the flex plate bolts to the crankshaft.
